Gwyneth Paltrow is Utterly Scrumptious

GiGi Eats Celebrities: That’s NOT false advertising!

You may think that because Gwyneth Paltrow is mostly skin and bones she isn’t tasty at all…

Gwyneth Paltrow walks the red carpet at the Iron Man premiere

Well lean “food” can be delicious too!!

Okay, I will now stop acting like a cannibal and get to the point.

I was feeling PRETTY perverted the other day… All I wanted to do was squish meat between my fingers… So who better to call than the Food Pervert herself, Tara Redfield.

Tara Redfield and GiGi Dubois play with ground turkey

You all met Tara back when she joined me in my snack-food swap video.

Tara immediately arrived at the GiGi Eats Celebrities headquarters (ha ha, oh I love calling my kitchen that) to show me how to act like a TRUE food pervert. With her she brought some delicious ingredients, including a basil plant and ground turkey (YES!! Just what I needed to satisfy my desire to build meat-men – who needs playdough?)… She also surprised me with an unexpected guest.

Gwyneth Paltrow!

To satisfy our hankerings to get down and dirty with some grub, Gwyn, Tara and I decided to create one of the recipes from Gwyn’s latest cookbook, It’s All Good… Middle Eastern Turkey Burgers with Cucumber Yogurt Sauce.Β

You will want to put this in your mouth!

Here’s the AMAZING RECIPE (you have to watch the video to see how to make the recipe though!):

For the Burgers:

  • 4 shallots
  • 2 small cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsps dried oregano
  • 8 large basil leaves
  • 3 handfuls baby spinach
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound ground turkey (not 99% lean)
  • 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil

For the Yogurt Sauce (makes 1 1/2 cups):

  • 1 cup plain sheep or goat’s milk (can use plain coconut yogurt)
  • 1/2 English cucumber, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 scallions, white and light green parts only, thinly slices
  • 2 sprigs of mint leaves, finely diced
  • 1 tbs finely chopped chives
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt

See: Not all celebrity diets are boring!Β

Comments

  1. I have been curious about Gwyneth Paltrow’s cookbook, that recipe sounds fantastic. I usually don’t buy celebrities cookbooks except Stanley Tucci’s because I have a huge crush on him!

    • Omg love Stanley! Thanks for letting me know he’s got a cookbook cause the Food pervert are most likely going to do a video series of celebrity recipes! :)

And this recipe really is magic in your mouth! lol

  2. You’re hilarious! A food pervert! LOL The recipe sounds delicious… I haven’t jumped on the video bang wagon yet – plus my computer is old and my Flash player doesn’t work… so I didn’t watch the video. However it sounds like you guys had an awesome time. I wish you lots and lots of success with your artistic endeavors. It’s always nice to meet a fellow performer… I think you’re the only one I’ve come across in the challenge.

    Have a great Tuesday.

    • Oh videos are the best! Its time to update your Flash missy!!! Ha Ha!

Def try this recipe sometime soon- it really is that good!!

  3. I LOVE GWYNETH PALTROW! And ohhh baby those burgers look so good! Hahaha “sometimes, you have to be a pervert and put the burger on the bun” I LOVE YOU GUYS!

    • Ah ha ha! Thanks Christine – The Food Perv just adds a little je ne sais quoi to my videos! πŸ˜‰

  4. I love cookbooks of all types by all people!!! But, I’m a little sad that I don’t have Gweneth’s book – guess I should go shopping later today because I really want to make some of those turkey burgers!!!

    • OMG seriously an amazing book – YOU MUST get it, or at least download it from Amazon onto your kindle or ereader if you have one! :) Try this recipe first and see what you think, I have a feeling you WONT be disappointed!

  5. LOVE US! Great editing my dear!

    • Thank YOUUUUU hottie hot hot! :) Can’t wait for COOLIO to teach us how to get some women on the floor?? LOL

  6. I have tried a couple of Gwyneth’s recipes and they are pretty good. She has a recipe for overnight buttermilk pancakes and I made them gluten-free and vegan. I actually posted the re-made version on my blog: http://thefitcookie.com/2011/11/19/gluten-free-overnight-pancakes/

    • Those pancakes look FANTASTIC!!! πŸ˜€ Nice re-creation! Gwyn would definitely be proud! ha ha.

  7. I have used some of Gwymeth’s recipes from her web site and quite liked them. This one looks good too – coconut yogurt? Wonder where I can find that here….

    • Where do you live? I have seen it at Whole Foods, Trader Joes… and Natural stores – however they could be at other stores too, I just haven’t really looked there!

      • Sadly we con’t have TJs in Canada or a Whole Foods where I live, but I am heading South soon and will be finding the nearest TJs after I get through the border. YAY!

  8. To be honest, I don’t care much about Gwyneth Paltrow or any celebrity… but I do like burgers and yogurt sauce. However, my food threesome is a classic – dark chocolate cake and red wine.

    • Oh you will become obsessed with Paltrow once you stick this burger in your mouth, LMFAO!

Your foodie 3-some sounds rather sexy though… Sounds like an after burger dessert πŸ˜‰

  9. This recipe sounds yummy! Will have to try it out and see if the kiddos agree too! Gwyneth gets so much bad press for being this unrealistically perfect mom, but if I was that beautiful and rich, I’d ride that horse ragged!

    • Oh your kiddos will DEFINITELY agree! The pickiest of eaters will jump head first into this recipe :)

And I feel sorry for Gwyn (only a little bit lol) because of the bad press. I don’t really understand why, she’s just practicing a healthy lifestyle – apparently people cannot accept eating healthy??

  10. The burgers look delish! I will have to check out Gwen’s new book!

  11. You never fail to crack me up…. I would love to come cook some recipes at your Headquarters sometime! :)

I do like Gwyneth Paltrow. Even though sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t after reading some of her quotes. Hah!

    • ha ha! mission accomplished then, cracking you up is a GREAT THING :)

Anytime you’re in LA, let me know and you are more than welcome to come on over to the GIGI EATS headquarters! LOL!

And I agree with you, some of the things she says are a bit off, but I cannot help but think the media takes everything she says out of context!

  12. Oh yum!! Make these for me right meow.
And I actually like Gwyneth, I just feel like she can have her own opinions and even if I don’t totally agree with everything she says. Whatever, she’s obviously doing something right, I mean look at that bod!

    • Ha Ha! I would, but you’d need to come on over to the GiGi Eats headquarters – LMFAO!! If only I could pass the burgers to you through the computer screen! πŸ˜‰

  13. I have a major girl crush on Gwyneth Paltrow. She rocks and her cookbooks are great too! I have tried this recipe and it is scrumptious!

  14. The sweetest meat is the closest to the bone!

    Love Gwyneth!

    • Completely agree, that’s why I love Hamachi Kama and Salmon kama! πŸ˜‰ — The neck of the fish if you’re not well versed in the fish parts…. Ah ha!

  15. I love Gwyneth Paltrow and her cookbook AND her website GOOP. She gets a bad rap sometimes as a major “b” but I interviewed her for Iron Man 3 recently and she was SO sweet!

I haven’t tried these burgers before but they look delicious. I would totally throw in some sweet potato fries on the side and have a food orgy.

As for two foods I want to have a threesome with…pizza and sushi…and me in the middle. This actually occurs on a regular basis. Mmmm :)

    • I have definitely heard that she is a major B even from an actor who has been in a lot of movies with her, but maybe he just rubs her the wrong way! ha ha. I mean, we can all be a B when we want to be! πŸ˜‰

OMG sweet potato fries on the side – COMPLETE HEAVEN! Definitely try this recipe later this week, I know Abe would LOVE IT too!

Oh baby, a Whitney Pizza & Sushi 3-some, now that’s some hard core porn people have to pay the BUCK $$ for! lol!

  16. THese sound great..didn’t know that Gwyneth ate meat, though?

  17. I can’t believe GP didn’t make a guest
appearance in your vid! Her loss…I won’t miss out when my opportunity comes :)

    • Well I contacted her manager and publicist but right now she is in Tokyo – can you believe she is still promoting Iron Man 3?! You gotta do what the contract says, but hey, it’s okay, she’ll just be on the same episode as you! πŸ˜‰

  18. Gwyneth Paltrow is great. we like her – we know others don’t be we do. the burgers look great!! just had turkey burger the other night πŸ˜‰

    • Do you use 99% lean ground turkey? I used to always use it but this recipe called for a little less lean so we used 92/8 and holy moly, it makes all the difference in flavor. I have no problem getting a little less lean turkey as long as it’s free range :)

  19. Totally thought Gwyneth Paltrow was at your house! LOL

  20. Oh my yum!!!!! I love turkey burgers and this variation sounds amazing. I’ve always been curious about Gwyneth’s recipes!

    • OMG these will not disappoint! And don’t go 99% lean ground turkey, it makes all the difference to go a little fattier, the 92% lean stuff just makes this recipe that much better :) I am glad I could cure your Gwyn food curiosity! More recipes to come.

  21. MMM sounds derishussssssss πŸ˜‰ xo

  22. This looks great !!! When I saw the flower I thought you two were going to come out in the next set blazing in grass skirts and Coconut Bikini tops, my mind wonders sometimes. The recipe is easy I’m not big on long drawn out cooking sessions. I bet these would be good with some chopped tomato and pita bread. Brittany could use lentils in place of ground meat ? would need a binder of sorts. Well this will be Sundays meal for me. :)

    • She could definitely use lentils instead – she’ll just have to get nice and creative! :)

I am sorry that we didn’t pop in with grass skirts and coconut bikini tops, but I am glad I got your mind wandering!

I cannot wait to hear how you like these burgers. I am not one to do a lot of cooking, anything elaborate TURNS ME OFF, so these burgers are soooo up my alley! Prepare for a lot of recipe episodes very soon! You will never believe what’s coming next, ha ha!

  23. Yum! That sounds SO delicious! I love Gwenie gwen! Thanks for sharing Gigi! Love + Shine CourtStar

    • You’re very welcome Court!! Please let me know if you try them, so good! And she even says that making the burgers a day in advance makes them even BETTER! So you could make enough for the week and just cook and GO :)

  24. I adore Tara’s hair, so cute. I love Gwyneth..she’s a babe. I wouldn’t eat this burger, but that’s for obvious reasons. I usually don’t care for celebrity cook books, but since G is a babe, and I know she likes to eat well I would support her with her book. I want to have a three some with peanut butter and apples. Right now. I also can’t wait to come to the Gigi headquarters.

    • OMGI cannot wait for you to come to the GiGi headquarters too!! πŸ˜‰

When you make burgers how do you make em veggie-style?! I think you need to make a song called VEGGIE STYLE and kick PSY’s ASS! LOL!!! πŸ˜‰

  25. You are sooooooooo entertaining!!!! Love the fun & the recipe!!!!! Me, not sure how I feel about her.. I have heard/read some prima dona things but who knows – all I care about is the recipe! :)

    • Yes I have definitely heard that Gwyn isn’t the nicest person in the world sometimes, but we can all be a little cranky, right?! LOL! And thanks for watching Jody! I hope you make & love this recipe!!

  26. ohh i’ve been meaning to check out her cookbook, but i think i like your vlogs better! hehe

    • Ha Ha! No need to check out the book now, you’ve got a delicious recipe right here! And uh, if you’d rather watch my VLOG than Gwyn, I FEEL LIKE $50 million! AH HA!

  27. I don’t eat the burgers, but I love watching your videos. And I think you’re much cuter than Gwyneth!

  28. I’ve been curious about her cookbook. I kind of go back and forth on how I feel about GP. Mostly, I like the sound of those meatballs.

    • I feel like a lot of people are on a SEESAW about GP. She has some good and some bad, but I think that the media plays up her BAD a lot more than her good because they love a good scandal!

  29. I am not a huge Gwyneth fan. Should I be? The recipe does sound tasty though. It sounds like something similar I have made before- maybe from the Biggest Loser cookbook? I can’t remember. I am not hugely into celebrity cookbooks unless it looks like they eat good. Gwen seems too skinny for a cookbook. :-)

    • After this recipe, I AM A HUGE FAN! lol!! Definitely just try it and see what you think πŸ˜‰ I think you can trust this skinny “chef”!

  30. Is it wrong that I just came over to watch your vlog? Love it and the recipe sounds yummy!

  31. She has always been fascinating to me! The video is awesome as always! I’m not a huge burger fan but this sounds great.

    • Thanks Diane! πŸ˜€ I am glad you liked the video, that’s my goal, obviously. ha ha. I have a feeling this recipe may make you like burgers πŸ˜‰

  32. call me CARNIVORE MCGEE.
    we are in :-)

  33. I love Gwenyth but I don’t do too many cookbooks. These sound pretty good though. I assumed you were the YouTube pro. I need serious help in that dept.

    • Yeah, it’s hard to trust celebrities when it comes to food, but I have to say, I LOVEEEE this recipe! :)

And if you need any youtube help, feel free to email me! gigieatscelebrities at gmail dot com!

  34. No celebrity cookbooks at my house – I rarely follow a recipe anyway so that’s probably ok. I know she’s a celebrity chef not celebrity actress, but I have actually followed a few of Giada’s recipes and made them vegetarian or vegan. Hmmm I guess that’s still not following a recipe is it πŸ˜‰

    • I NEVER follow recipes either!!! it was the Food Pervert’s idea to do this recipe. But I won’t lie to you, I got a little excited that I recipe could taste so good! LOL! πŸ˜‰

    • Oh and did you see my last post with Giada?! She’s got a delicious recipe I posted and then she mentions a few yummy ones in my interview with her too!

  35. Must check out this cookbook!

Love GP. Oh and she looked smokin’ in that last Iron Man movie! Wowza!

  36. GAH! I hate touching meat with my bare hands! Ummm….animal meat, that is. HA!

  37. anonymous says:

I freakin love GIGI and Gwyneth, two bomb combinations. I LOVE HER AND HER COOKBOOKS, I breezed through it and tried her turkey bolognese pasta

  38. I haven’t tried her cookbook – but I really want to. The recipes sound so earthy and simple.

    • Definitely try this! You won’t be disappointed! In fact, I think I may make them again TODAY! πŸ˜€

  39. Yum! Tzatiki is a staple in this Greek household, it is such a delicious condiment (and so easy to make)!

    • Unfortunately I cannot eat dairy, but I have a feeling it would be stunningly delicious on these amazing burgers! πŸ˜€

  40. Me too! I’m definitely a food pervert!!!

Love the burger recipe, except that it’s turkey. What’s the deal with that? Can’t we get some meat here?!? Let’s do it with bison, or venison, or wild boar!

    • Hey NOW! This turkey was definitely delicious, and on the fattier side – completely free-ranged too, I wouldn’t let anything less than 100% in my body, that’s for damn sure.

Of course you could totally do this recipe with bison, venison, kangaroo, wild boar, lion, bear, whatever you want… Gwyneth is just a bit PRUDE when it comes to wild animals! πŸ˜‰

Make these burgers this weekend with whatever meat you want, and let me know how it goes!

  41. Great post and great Burgers! Thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday. Hope you are having a great summer weekend and come back to see me real soon!
