Domino’s Ain’t Got Nothing On This Pizza!

Hi there!

Welcome to the DUDE FOOD “cafe”!

GiGi and Whitney welcome you to Dude Food!

How can Whitney and I help you today?

Oh! You’d like an EXTRA LARGE meaty pizza loaded with bacon and sausage?

Not a problem… Coming RIGHT UP!

GiGi Dubois and Whitney English cook pizza!

**But… Sorry, we’re out of Ryan Reynolds**

So what exactly is Dude Food. This is a new web series Whitney and I decided to cook up (ha ha ha ha ha!), where we take not so healthy foods that “dudes*” (yes, you ladies probably love them too!) love (tacos, chicken wings, hot dogs… Yes, I am totally stereotyping over here) and give them a HEALTHY make over, because I mean, in Hollywood, everything is ALWAYS getting a makeover!

What you need for today’s recipe:

  • 1/2 head cauliflower, riced
  • 1-2 eggs (We used egg whites, however whole eggs are better. You could also use FLAX “EGGS”)
  • 1-2 tbs seasonings of your choice (we used Pizza seasoning)
  • 1 tbs olive oil (optional, use if you only use 1 egg)

  • ANYTHING you’d like, just as long as it’s not trans fat and sugar laden!

***MAKE SURE YOU RING OUT the cauliflower (after it is riced and steamed) in a kitchen towel!***

Did you know that an ULTIMATE PEPPERONI Pizza from Domino’s clocks in at 3840 calories and 2000 grams of fat (81 of these grams from saturated fat). Yes, that’s a TWO with THREE ZEROS!

OMFG!!! Who is throwing a DIVA-LIKE fit from this news? But honestly, WHAT did you expect?

GiGi Dubois and Whitney English Pizza Recipe with Cauliflower

  • What’s your favorite pizza topping?
  • Have you ever tried to make a cauliflower crust? Or how about a different vegetable crust?
  • Were you a pizza face in high school?
  • Are you guilty of throwing an entire pizza down your esophagus in one sitting?
  • Anchovies anyone?
  • Since Ryan Reynolds isn’t an available topping at the Dude Food Cafe, which beef cake would you throw on your pizza (gentlemen, what saucy lady would you top your pizza with)?
  • If you could throw a pizza in ANY celebrity’s face… Who would it be?
  • Do you see how I put a * next to the word DUDE… Do you know what the TRUE definition of DUDE means? Those of you who KNOW (without looking it up… MAY WIN A PRIZE!)

Sprint to the Table, Strange But Good!

  1. Hello from the UBC. :) You guys are hilarious! I love pizza and although I don’t eat Domino’s, I know that most typical pizzas aren’t that good for you, so I’m always curious about other options. I had no idea you could make a crust out of cauliflower! I will definitely have to give that a try sometime.

    • I hope you do try this! I am very lazy when it comes to cooking but this was actually pretty easy and I was so impressed with the final product! I hadn’t eaten pizza in 10 years!

  2. Gigi- LOVE this post, I’m LOL right now. Recently made my first cauliflower pizza and loved it. One question that is bugging me….If the pizza has 2000 grams of fat and 1 gram = 9 calories, wouldn’t the pizza have over 18,000 calories? …. sorry to go all technical, but something seems off!

Thanks for reminding me of the awesomeness of cauliflower crust :)

    • EXACTLY!!!!!! Did you look at the Domino’s Pizza nutritional information! THEY ARE LYING TO US!! How sick! :(
How did you make your pizza crust? There are so many different recipes for this, I would be curious to hear what you included! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • I think Gigi had a bit of a typo… It looks like it may have around 2000 CALORIES from fat, depending on the size of the pie, not 2000 GRAMS of fat…

      • I would completely agree with you Rich, however, on the Domino’s nutrition fact website, under the Ultimate Pepperoni Pizza section, under FAT it says the upper limit of fat on an XL pizza is 2000 grams! HA! Maybe they have a type??? Regardless, their pizza is horrendous!!

I appreciate you reading my post though ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Gigi- LOVE this post, Iโ€™m LOL right now. Recently made my first cauliflower pizza and loved it. One question that is bugging meโ€ฆ.If the pizza has 2000 grams of fat and 1 gram = 9 calories, wouldnโ€™t the pizza have over 18,000 calories? โ€ฆ. sorry to go all technical, but something seems off!

Thanks for reminding me of the awesomeness of cauliflower crust :)

  4. This pizza is ROCKIN’!! You could make it just extra slightly more rockin’ by adding some stir-fried ground beef or bison (spiced with pizza spices, of course) in with the cauliflower crust. Trust me when I say: you’ll freakin’ love it!

    • OK YES!!!!!! Adding meat INTO THE CRUST – that BLOWS MY MIND OFF MY NECK! lol!!! It’s a MUST TRY in the next recipe. SWOOONIG over here!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Do you have a recipe on your blog for this??

      • Unfortunately, no. Every time I’ve made it, I’ve been so ravenously hungry that I’ve eaten it before managing to take a photo!! It’s a sad state of affairs…

        • Bah ha ha ha!!!!! Well next time TRY and at least grab a photo!!!! For the sake of convincing me that it is an amazing recipe ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • :) You got it! Not like you need convincing… But the truth is that I’ve made this several times, each time planning to take photos, share on the blog… It’s really not working out for me! The smells drive me to a level of crazy that I just can’t describe… But yes, I will make sure to take photos the next time! Perhaps this weekend?

          • PLEASE DO! So then I can re-create it next week! :)

  5. Cauliflower crust is my jam!!! I use quinoa flake in mine so I don’t have to mess with wringing out water. I’m lazy. And it gives it enough structure that I don’t have to use a lady like fork. I eat that shizz by the slice. ‘Cause I’m secretly a dude. But I still use protection.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if you put JAM on your cauliflower pizza crust too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And it’s okay do be DUDE LIKE – I totally am too… And I sometimes risk it… And DONT USE PROTECTION! lol!!!

  6. I keep seeing things for cauliflower crust and one day I just need to do it!! Pizza is my one weakness so I will do just about anything to find a healthy alternative! :)

    • This is exactly what happened to me!!! I kept seeing this recipes EVERYWHERE and I was like GOSH DARN IT – JUST MAKE IT!!!!! ha ha! I hope you finally give in and try it! :)

  7. Ohh my gosh delivery pizza makes me want to DIIIEEE!! I love making my own pizza, and as a vegan..I kinda have to!! Finding a vegan pizza spot is rare!! Thanks for including a VEGAN alternative to the egg…I would use a chia egggggg!! I have actually been wanting to make cauliflower crust WHOOP WHOOP! My favorite topping is POTATOES! YUMMMMM. I was not a pizza face thank GOD!!! I don’t use forks…I always use my face..or hands. I eat pasta with my hands. HAHAAH just kidding.

I DID used to have races with my friend when we were like 12 to see who could eat their mac and cheese the fastest only using their face. I totally won all the time.

    • Can we have a pizza eating contest and then rub each others stomachs when we are DYING from cauliflower OVERLOAD… And if we make the pizza with flax or chia seeds, you might have even worse stomach aches thanks to ALL THE FIBER… But… We will just remind ourselves that… it was good going down! LOL!!!!!!!!

  8. I LOVE Cauliflower pizza! AND Applegate! Just not what cauliflower does to my tum tum…grrwwwoollll

    • You and me both! People need to evacuate the premise when I eat too much cauliflower – but luckily, me eating 12 this pizza didn’t cause ANY discomfort!! ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Hooray for big meaty pizzas! Now I’m hungry :)

  10. I like my pizzas with all the meats and all the veggies, mmmmm. I have made cauliflower crust and I thought it was OK. I prefer to use a pita or a flatout instead because I miss the crunch!

    Your za looks awesome!

    • I think if you cook the crust long enough, you get more of the crunch factor. You also really need to RING IT OUT so the moisture doesn’t screw with the crunchiness!! You should def. try again :)

  11. Well the high calorie count of Dominoes Pizza explains how I gained 20 pounds in a semester while running competitive cross country – I could put away a medium pizza no problem (and did about 3x a week after 11:00pm) – not cool!!!
    My favorite topping – mushrooms!!!
I’ve never tried a cauliflower pizza – is the texture weird?

    • OMG I remember when I could and did put away a LARGE PIZZA no problem! That was back when I was like 7 years old… Ah the ignorance of being a youngin’ – I miss that bliss! LOL! But this cauliflower pizza is BOMB and it’s a must try! I really didn’t feel as though there was a weird texture at all and the pizza seasoning REALLY helped enhance the flavor, along with the sexy meaty toppings!

  12. Gigi, Love this how funny. I have made Cauliflower crust pizza here at home and my kids even ate it!!! Super great creative way to make pizza, only I am not a meat eater so all veggies for me :)

  13. I like this idea for crust, how about some pea protein mixed with it ? as far as toppings my all time favorites are anchovies, fresh garlic, hot peppers, crispy chicken strips and some Romano cheese. Growing up in NY I have had the best pizza in the world :) My favorite big screen lady’s have men now so it would be awkward to have them all together right ??,, yeah it would be, so no Ukrainian or Cajun toppings for me :(
I think a pizza topped with some sound advice for the squirrely little singer who just can’t seem to find her way would be fitting. Here are some hint’s for the definition of Dude, ZZ Top Song, Justin Timberlake, George Clooney that should help.
Who thinks GiGi should enter Maxim’s Home Town Hotties contest ????? :)

    • I think pea protein would actually help this recipe stick better, maybe I’ll do that next time, however I have to make sure to use natural flavor as opposed to vanilla because vanilla pizza just sounds… WRONG! LOL!!!

Don’t even get me started on the pizza I grew up with, ah man, the memories of deliciousness. But I won’t lie to you, and I don’t – this pizza Whitney and I made was really VERY GOOD!!! :)

I looked at the Maxim thing… Looks like I missed the deadline! Oh well. My boobs aren’t big enough for that contest anyways! HA HA AH AH!

  14. Ryan Renolds isn’t available as a topping?!? Dammit. I guess I’ll go with BBQ chicken and ALL the cheese in that case. Maybe even throw on some spinach to automatically make it healthy ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have to say that I’m kind of skeptical of the whole cauliflower crust thing, but I’ve never tried it so I’ll try not to knock it until I do… and hopefully it’ll be so good that no knocking will be necessary.

    • I know sorry, we are fresh out of Ryan Reynolds today and he is on back order indefinitely. :( LOL! Until he and Blake break up that is! ha ha ha ha!

I was SUPER SKEPTICAL about this crust, but I had been reading it EVERYWHERE so I was like OKAY SERIOUSLY JUST TRY AND MAKE IT!!!! And it worked really well!!! I am a huge fan and could def. go for some RIGHT NOW! :) I hope you try it soon and blog about your epic FAIL or epic SUCCESS! lol!

  15. I love supreme pizzas! I would pie Kayne in the face! You all are adorable!

  16. That’s a lot of calories!! And fat! Yikes! I’m more into the veggie pizzas, but I know they can be just as caloric sometimes! Good addition with the cauliflower rice!

  17. Such a cool idea for a pizza crust! I’ve tried something like this once, but mine fell apart :( I just scrambled it and ate it anyway and it was still delicious! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. I’m really glad that I’m not the only person that orders pizza with NO cheese!

I love cauliflower but have never used is like this.

In college I used to order pizzas nightly! Anchovies on it were the best way to keep roommates away from my pie, lol!

I’ve always liked Halle Berry, so put her on my pizza!

Maybe dude means someone who doesn’t know how to ride a horse?

    • No cheese for me. I am cheesy enough, right?!?! LOL.

And if I were in college with you, I would have eaten your pizza before you even knew it arrived because ANCHOVIES ARE MY JAM!!!!

AND DING DING DING – You are correct! DUDE = someone who does not know how to ride a horse! Hence, “dude ranch” ๐Ÿ˜€

  19. Love, love, love this!!! And pizza…. yum!

  20. LOL omg you girls are crazy. There was so much innuendo going on in this video I don’t even know hahaha

  21. Some day I will try the cauliflower crust. Sans hot dogs of course :-)

    Loved the vid as usual.

  22. You are kidding me with a crust made out of cauliflower? I can’t believe it. How do you “rice” it? That is truly amazing. I’d totally throw one at Tom Cruise. He seems WAY arrogant.

  23. I’ve seen the cauliflower pizza crust one other place and have been afraid to try it. I prefer veggie pizzas so does that mean I wouldn’t put toppings on the cauliflower crust?

I think this is an awesome series! Can’t wait to see what else you “cook” up!

    • No way, you can throw TONS of veggies on! In the video, Whitney and I throw on veggies galore :) It’s great. You should definitely try it and let me know what you think!! I am dying to know what others think. Ha Ha.

And thank you Carla… I am curious to see what Whitney and I will “cook up” next too! ha ha.

  24. This is great! I have made a cauliflower pizza crust but am always looking for new ideas to make them turn out better! I don’t have a food processor though so the whole ‘ricing’ technique never works out!

    • How do you make your crust without a food processor? I think you may want to ask for one from Santa? lol. You can make not just cauliflower crusts that way, you can make butternut squash… Parsnip, etc! Your culinary world will EXPLODE with ideas! ha ha.

  25. I am a lazy cook!!! I have not made although I see lots on the cauliflower crust! Can’t do cheese for those that make it that way. how about if you make it – I will come. :) Looks delich!

HUGH JACKMAN or the Rock!!! :”) Not gonna tell you what I might do with them! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • I am such a lazy cook too Jody, seriously. As I mentioned before, I only cook when others are around to help me! when I am alone I literally eat the SAME EXACT thing… It’s funny actually! I never get sick of it. But I do like trying new things out! ๐Ÿ˜€

And I can ONLY IMAGINE what you might do to The Rock and Hugh Jackman… They’re like sausage and bacon – they work well together ๐Ÿ˜‰

  26. Erin from Long Island says:

cauli-pizza has been on my “to try” list for …um…ever…! Now that it’s in season (aka cheaper) i MUST do it!

  27. UGH that looks delicious!!! I love a good cauliflower crust!! I’ve made it a couple of times and it’s super good. My favorite pizza topping is pineapple and ham :)

  28. Haha, I just thought of a funny scene from Breaking Bad: Walt gets pissed off and throws and entire pizza on the roof of his house! Have you ever thrown a pizza on your roof? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pizza, you know, I like pizza. My boyfriend loves pizza. Seriously, he could live off of it. I don’t get it. But ah well. I do enjoy Margherita pizza, veggie pizza and occasionally a loaded works pizza. Oh and then there’s Mexican Pizzas. I love those. I could probably live off of those for a bit!

    • I would definitely not be opposed to throwing pizzas off the roof! Ha, that reminds me. In 2 – 3 weeks I am going to release a video that involves me throwing a watermelon… off my balcony. Ha! You will just have to wait and see ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pizza is such an AMAZING combo of flavors. I am thrilled I found a healthier alternative because if you can believe it, I hadn’t had it in 11 years. You should try this on your boyfriend but NOT TELL HIM that you made a SPECIAL crust and see what happens ๐Ÿ˜‰ — Report back!

  29. Wow ! I had no idea you could make pizza crust using cauliflower. What an interesting twist. Loved your “dude food” cooking segment. You are hilarious!

    • You could also make a pizza crust with butternut squash and/or parsnips… broccoli, zucchini – the list goes on :)

      And thank you for watching!!!

  30. I absolutely love cauliflower as a crust. I’ve made it in so many dishes. Great alternative!

  31. I have tried this like 80 kabillion times and always make a mess!
80 kabillion and one is the charm right??

    • YES YES IT IS!! And with the step by step instructions in the video, you cannot go wrong! The key is to REALLY RING OUT THE CAULIFLOWER after steaming it!!!!

  32. Oh!!!! So excited to try this. I’ve been used cauliflower as my “noodles” for my pasta dishes. It’s great. Smells like feet while you’re cooking it though. :(

    • I use Spaghetti Squash for my noodles! They’re AMAZING!!!

I hope you try and like this recipe! Cauliflower does KIND OF smell like feet but if you mix this crust with delicious seasonings, it will smell like that when it’s cooking!

  33. I’ve heard so much about cauliflower crust over the past few weeks, and now I want to try it! Can you taste the difference once it’s baked up? Pepperoni is where it’s at for me, and since I’ve never met a healthy pepperoni, I try to let pizza be a once in a while treat.

    • YOU NEED to try this recipe and use THIS pepperoni:

Applegate Farms knows what’s UP!! ๐Ÿ˜€

To be completely honest with you though, I have not had pizza (real) in 11 years so me telling the difference between actual pizza and cauliflower crust is like asking me to change a tire… I just don’t know! LOL. However, Whitney could give you the lowdown!

  34. I’ve made a cauliflower crust before but used so much cheese to hold it together, I might as well have made the crust out of straight mozzarella.

    • LOL!!!! I made SURE not to use cheese because I cannot eat dairy! This one worked pretty well – ringing out the cauliflower enough and using a little olive oil or whole egg really helps hold it all together!

  35. Chicken, basil and pesto! I can’t do cauliflower…it gives me gas! lol

    • LOL! Does that to me too… But oddly enough, eating 1/2 this pizza didn’t do that to me! You can always make a crust with zucchini or summer squash :)

  36. Great sounding pizza!

  37. OK, DEFINITELY trying this recipe and DEFINITELY subscribing to GiGi Eats Celebrities! Thanks for the fabulous recipe, girl!

  38. Love it!! You crack me up. :) saving this recipe to try later!!

  39. I just love any kind of sexual innuendo, so I’m dying over here. Love.

  40. Hah dude food, I love it. And I love cauliflower crust. So much good stuff happening here.

  41. I have been wanted to try this! This is perfect! Our tummies are soooo on the same page right.

  42. I think you guys would have the most successful show on the Food Network. Lol. :)

  43. Now this sounds like a series I can get down with you on! I’m going to be in LA Nov 19ish…lets do it.

  44. Now this is a video series I can get down with you on. I’m in LA mid Nov’ish…we going to throw down?

  45. I’ve been wanting to make a cauliflower crust pizza but I really need to get a food processor first! Since I rarely cook, I only have a Magic Bullet and it doesn’t really process cauliflower efficiently. My favorite pizza toppings are cheese and pepperoni.. super simple. I actually rarely eat pizza though and pretty good with the temptations considering there is ALWAYS fresh and free pizza at my work. I actually complained once because we always ordered pizza and wings in this meeting so now they only order salads and sandwiches. I bet some of my other co-workers hate me. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • The food processor makes ALL the difference! I have a blender and I know it wouldn’t do the same thing as the processor! Whitney had to bring her little baby over, but I am going to purchase one, VERY SOON :)

If you can believe it, I have not had REAL pizza in 11 years! And you know what? Your co-workers might not be too pleased with you about “banishing” pizza, but they will THANK YOU in the future when they’re not suffering from heart attacks? LOL!!

  46. i have made this before but i am pretty sure you two in the kitchen is way more fun and tasty than mine!

  47. Amazing!! I’m pizza obsessed and can now enjoy them guilt free ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love mine with lots of veg, cheese and pesto. Yum :)

  48. Your recipes amaze me!!!

Pizza is one of the things I could eat every day. But the real thing: thin crust, fresh vegetables on top.

I like it with smoked salmon too, or escargots. Yum.

The problem with pizza is that it makes me crave Coke (as in the pop drink! LOL)

    • AMAZE YOU huh?!?!?! My recipes actually amaze me too, because I am always NOT expecting them to turn out okay! AH HA HA HA! I am not exactly a rocket scientist in the kitchen ๐Ÿ˜‰

Smoked salmon and escargots on your pizza! OMG never heard of such a fancy pizza combo before, I am loving it!

AND YOU’RE SO RIGHT!! Pizza definitely makes you want to SLURP DOWN A HUGEEEEEE soda! Ugh, man, reminds me of pizza parties when I was little. Those were the days! lol!

  49. Oh I’ve been looking for a good cauliflower pizza crust recipe so will definitely try this pizza…with anchovies as part of the topping of course! Wow, I guess I wont be ordering that Domino’s pizza tonight! Yikes!

Hmmm, I would just love to throw a pizza in Cher and Sean Penn’s faces. And please can you put extra Thor on my pizza topping? The guy that plays him is just yummy! lol

    • BAHHHHHHHH HA HA HA HA! I wouldn’t mind chucking a pizza in Sean Penn’s face… Jim Carrey’s face too, while we are at it!

And would you be willing to share your Thor-topped pizza with me? I mean he is such a manly man… There is lots of him to go around, no? LOL!!!

And I really hope you try this recipe soon. As soon as you do, let me know!

  50. My husband ordered a Dominos pizza for his dinner tonight. He didn’t want the pasta I had. I’m feeling pretty righteous after reading this. :)

  51. What a fun post, you’al are just having so much fun. I love your crust and will be giving it a try. Great looking Pizza! Thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday. Hope you are having a great weekend and come back soon!
    Miz Helen

  52. I must try this crust situation. Yum!

  53. OMG! I love the video! I’ve never heard of cauliflower crust before! Sounds yummy and healthy. Thanks for sharing! :)

  54. Sounds great! Def. pinning it for later. Found you on Marvelous Monday Linky Party!

  55. This may make me like Quinoa!

    • Ha Ha! I have never eaten Quinoa before in my life! And I think you’re the only person I know who has insinuated that they don’t like the seed!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  56. I love finding new ways to make a traditional food healthy. This looks so good. I love the little video too.

    • Thank You Mandi and I appreciate you stopping by!! I hope you try and love this recipe as much as Whitney and I do! :)

  57. Um, why does no one else mention that you need to ring out the cauliflower? This little tip is going to save me from making pizza mush again :) Thanks for the tip!

  58. Highschool?! Hell sometimes I STILL feel like a pizza face! :( I’ve never tried making a cauliflower crust! Interesting! And I love the idea of a DUDE FOOD series!! Can’t wait for more!! :)

  59. This is great!!!!

  60. Healthy pizza and version of Dominos, sign ,e up anyday! :)

  61. This is actually quite good aha how long did this take to think of !

    • There are many variations of this recipe on the internet, but we decided to go the cheese-free route (well crust wise)… it was very delicious! Hope you try it! :)

  62. That actually looks not half bad- thanks for this! :)

  63. I bet you stopped visiting Dominos after founding out about this sort of Pizza :)

  64. Wow 2000 grams of fat . . . I’d top that off with a QUART of haagen dazs
