Okay… Something has been making me boil lately and it’s time I discuss it with all of you.

No, I’m not about to talk about how the weather is getting cooler thus in part making me boil foods in a pot to serve up some hot soups…

Instead, I am going to need you to prepare yourself because what you’re about to read is going to be a bit of a rant… And I am not going to lie, it may have some bitchy undertones.

As of late, I have been notating that a lot, if not all of the recipes I publish on my blog are “keto-friendly”.

Now for all of you who don’t know what “keto” is, let me fill you in…

WTF is keto

Keto (the Ketogenic Diet or Keto Diet) is a high fat, moderate protein, and low carbohydrate way of eating. This diet allows people to get into ketosis, a metabolic state that burns fat for energy, instead of carbohydrates.

It’s a lifestyle I have been following for about 17 years and my first book about the diet was released on June 18th.

Oh and I certainly can’t forget to mention the fact that I also collaborated with a delicious chocolate company called The Good Chocolate to create the Double Crunch Vegan Milk Chocolate Bar, which happens to be vegan* and “keto-friendly”…

Now if you’ve been visiting my blog on the weekly, you may have noticed said notations on my recipes about them being keto… And are probably wondering where I am going with this rant…

Well here’s the deal…

While I am overly appreciative of all the blog comments I receive, I am getting really annoyed by a specific type of comment I get VERY OFTEN these days…

ANNOYED-GIGIEATSCELEBRITIES

“I don’t eat keto but this recipe looks delicious” or “I don’t follow the keto diet, but I will pass this recipe on to my friend who is.”

First, I am thrilled my recipes look delicious to you… And secondly, thanks for passing it on to your friends

GIGI-THANK-YOU

But HOLD UP A HOT MINUTE…

Since you’re NOT following a ketogenic lifestyle, does this mean you live your life without eating…

  • Chicken and Chicken Wings
  • Ground Meat and Steak with Sides of Vegetables
  • Salmon, Other Fish, and Seafood
  • Turkey and Gravy
  • All kinds of Eggs with Bacon and/or Sausage
  • Vegetables
  • Butter and Cream
  • Chipotle (without the beans and rice)…?

If you answer YES to that question then… You have EVERY RIGHT to leave me a comment stating that you don’t “do” keto… But if you do eat these things, I would highly suggest you rephrase your comment to… “Wow, I had no idea that some of the foods and meals I eat are actually keto compliant!”

BECAUSE THEY ARE.

Snacking on Brazil nuts right now, as you read this?

OH MY GOODNESS, YOU MUST BE ON THE KETO DIET!

Landon Ashworth Whoa

Just kidding, but those nuts are in fact endorsed by the keto diet… As are almonds, walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts!

Same goes for if you’re eating a piece of string cheese right now…

Albeit that’s more of the “dirty” approach to the lifestyle, but keto nonetheless.

So I guess what this post all BOILS DOWN TOO IS…

DIETS CAN CONVERGE! OVERLAP! INTERSECT…

PEOPLE CAN EAT THE SAME THINGS EVEN IF ON DIFFERENT DIETS.

What an absolute SHOCKER!!

You may be a Twinkie loving pasta carbonara fiend… But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a bunless burger salad if you feel like it.

Oh and also… EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT VEGAN… You can still consume and enjoy the chocolate I created with The Good Chocolate*.

So stay tuned… Because many more KETO-FRIENDLY recipes will be published on this blog in the future… And who knows, YOUR DIET MAY ACTUALLY ALLOW THEM… Even though… They’re KETO!
