I’m not sure if you all do this very often but… I was WASTING MY LIFE AWAY the other evening… Scrolling through Instagram…
When I noticed a few different people posting the most beautifully shot photos of açaí bowls on their feed. They strategically place the spoon perfectly to one side… The berries on top were as if they were strategically placed specifically to make sure this photo looked good… The images were so crisp, I felt like they were 3D and the lighting was so on point, my eyes smiled.
Of course, I DOUBLE TAPPED these photos because I mean, how could I not, they were just so perfect. Actually, too perfect.
However… Then… Then I did something CRAZY. I actually READ their captions and hashtags.
Yep.
Unlike so many… I ACTUALLY DO READ CAPTIONS.
I wonder if that counts as LEGIT reading? I mean sometimes people write NOVELS.
Anywho…
Unfortunately… My reading actually made me UNLIKE every gorgeous photo of the bowls filled with thick fruit smoothies topped with granola, peanut butter, various fruits… Chocolate shavings and um, maple syrup (kudos to the boomerang captures)… Because… Well, EVERY ONE OF THE PUBLISHERS… Noted that these bowls are HEALTHY and BALANCED and OH SO NOURISHING TO THEIR BODIES (via caption and/or hashtags).
These statements actually ignited a tiny BONFIRE inside of me.
If I didn’t LOVE my phone so much (pathetic but true)… I probably would have smashed it on the ground out of INTENSE IRE…
Because these claims are INSANELY FALSE.
Actually, after reading these blurbs… I prayed that people scrolling through Instagram actually DID NOT do what I do on the platform and read captions under photos because I don’t want anyone to obtain false information!
With all this being said… I guess I can actually THANK these uneducated Instagramers… Because they have inspired me to start a new little GiGi Eats Celebrities series where I RIP THE “HEALTH HALOS” off of “HEALTHY FOODS”… IE: Expose the truth behind these HEALTH FOOD FAKERS.
Clearly, you can see that my first episode will include the OH SO PRETTY açaí bowls… But I do include TWO OTHER “healthy foods” in this video that you MIGHT be shocked to learn about. So why don’t you go on and CLICK PLAY!
Now you may be thinking: “WHY THE FORK SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU, GIGI? Who are you to tell me I can’t lap up BOWL after BOWL of my favorite açaí combo?!”
And my retort is this: “Do whatever the fork you want with the information because you are your own entity and an adult who can decide for themselves what you think is best for you! I am not the type to push anyone to do something they don’t want to do and you know what’s best for YOU. That being said, do know, I have been studying nutrition for the past 15 years and have my masters in this subject matter. So while I may like a whole bunch of pretty donuts dripping in vanilla frosting and sexy pasta dishes covered in cheese sauces all over Instagram, know that I am simply HEARTING these photos because I appreciate the photo composition and quality… And nothing more!”
