LOOK AT ME!!!
PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!!!
Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hiiiiiii!!!!
HELLOOO?!?!?!?!?!
I am sure if my parents read my blog (specifically THIS post)… All those phrases would make their skin crawl (okay, I have a feeling some of my other raunchier posts would do the same thing to them as well, but for different reasons) because they would be reminded of the type of kid I was when growing up. An obnoxious asshole…
A kid that WANTED and NEEDED ATTENTION.
And LOTS OF IT.
Sadly (however, thankfully at the same time, now that I am an “adult” and look back upon it) my parents worked FULL-TIME, ROUND-THE-CLOCK, thus I never really saw them… So vying for their attention was rather difficult. That’s right people… My parents never attended any of my extracurricular activities… And I had babysitters read me bedtime stories.
GASP!!!
Trust me, me, and my tomboy fairy, wrong goal kicking, Rockette self*… Don’t hold this against them.
And because of this lack of attention from them, I turned to the next best thing… I sought out the attention of OTHERS.
Now when I was a kiddo… Being insanely LOUD and vulgarly opinionated was the way I made sure EVERYONE HEARD ME…
Oh, wait, what’s changed?
But now… Now I see gaining the attention of others in a different light.
Holy shit. Have I actually matured past the age of a 13-year-old girl?
Now I seek out the attention of others because I want to INFOTAIN them… As opposed to just have them look at me.
And as you all (or most of you) may know at this point… I do this through well, the medium you are currently reading, and YouTube!
Well, WHAT DO YOU KNOW… This plan of mine since I was a little kiddie… WORKED. Because I was tapped to talk at a conference a couple of weeks ago, ALL ABOUT BEING THE CENTER OF ATTENTION…
Needless to say, my parents didn’t attend, lol.
Okay, well, kinda? That was a bit of a stretch, but it made sense considering what I was talking about.
Really, the conference I spoke at, BLOGFEST, asked me to talk about WHAT IT TAKES AND HOW TO TO FEEL COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF A VIDEO CAMERA AS POSSIBLE (because I have been doing my thing in front of a camera for SO very long)… And I named my session, LET’S MAKE LOVE TO THE CAMERA… Cause I mean, who wouldn’t want to attend a session called that?!
Now while my parents didn’t attend (that honestly would have been really weird)… Mr. Ashworth DID attend, and he FILMED THE WHOLE DANG SESSION, which means, ALL OF YOU (who were unable to attend) who are struggling to find confidence in front of the camera GET TO BENEFIT from his fancy camera SKILLS (he also imparts some camera wisdom during the session too)… Because you can WATCH and hopefully LEARN some valuable tips and tricks!
So um… WATCH ME! WATCH ME! WATCH ME! Whoops, sounds like little GiGi just popped out of the woodworks… Trying to vie for your attention. But you know what? “Mature” GiGi agrees with her younger self, CLICK THE VIDEO BELOW and WATCH (it’s long… But informative)!
Now if you really don’t feel like watching… Perhaps you’re at work… Where you’re SUPPOSED TO BE Uh…. YEAH…
YOU CAN FIND ALL THE TIPS AND TRICKS RIGHT HERE…
As I WROTE OUT THE ENTIRE PRESENTATION AS WELL!
SO TELL ME…
- How do you feel in front of the camera? Scare, intimidated, excited, energetic?
- Have you ventured into the video world yet? If not, what’s stopping you?
- What was the best piece of advice you took away from the presentation?
- If you were to start a video series (if you haven’t done so already), what would your series be about?
- What’s your favorite video platform currently? (Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc., etc.)
