Here is some rather EXPLOSIVE INSIGHT for you…
Get ready for it because your world may very well change!
(No, I did not give birth yet, and that wouldn’t change your world, just mine!)
French Toast…
Yeah, it is not entirely French.
Just call me 23 & Me because I am exposing the ancestry composition of our tasty pal, French Toast.
*Not an entirely accurate percentage gauge. Just trying to make a point that French is not the
largest percentage when it comes to the origins of French Toast.
As you can see above,* French Toast is actually more British & Irish as well as Italian than French & German.
That being said, according to promotional literature produced by IHOP, the first written mention of the delicacy comes from the court of Henry V of England. And I mean, how could we not trust IHOP with doling out useful information.
Har. Har.
So where on earth does French fall into this ancestry tree?
Well, after extensive research on my part (i.e. googling a couple of articles about French Toast), there hasn’t been all that much documented about French Toast actually having a French origin, if really any at all.
There is one thought that is believed to be a myth, and that is that French toast owes its creation to an Albany, N.Y., innkeeper named Joseph French. The legend says that “French whipped up a batch of the golden-brown treats in 1724 and advertised them as “French toast” because he’d never learned to use an apostrophe ‘s.'”
Honestly, I find this lore to be the most believable out of any other thought as to who and where this buttery toast was invented.
And… History Class dismissed.
Time to for HOME ECONOMICS CLASS!
Hi everyone! Today I am going to be teaching you how to make KETO APPROVED French Toast (that EVERYONE, even those not practicing the ketogenic diet, can enjoy)! As you remember from two classes ago, we made a Keto Approved Flatbread and then stored in the freezer for future use. Please go to the freezers in the back of the class room, get your flatbread that you stored in a freezer bag and wrote your name on and come back to your desks. I will then turn on a video showcasing the next steps in order to achieve this tasty recipe that gives you the same mouth feel and taste as REAL FRENCH TOAST!
Common Dillion, grab your flatbread and get back to the classroom, I am about to press play on this video…
