Gluten is pretty much as cool as socks and sandals in “celeb-ville”.
Hey look! Ice pops on my feet!
Wait, what is gluten?
According to trusty WIKIPEDIA… “Gluten is the composite of a gliadin and a glutelin, which is conjoined with starch in the endosperm of various grains.”
Endosperm?
Sounds sexual.
Since it sounds like such a naughty ingredient (and we all know celebrities love being… raunchy good?), why have celebrities such as Jenny McCarthy, Zooey Deschanel and most recently Miley Cyrus given gluten the heave-ho?
DIE GLUTEN… YOU MAKE MY ASS LOOK FAT! DIE!
Well this protein found in most grains, cereals and breads has been getting a worse reputation than Kim Kardashian lately all thanks to the fact that gluten has been connected to weight gain, stomach aches, autism, headaches and lack of energy.
At least bagels and biscuits have the decency of not tweeting pictures of themselves in bikinis!
I spoke to soon
So should everyone follow this diet trend of the stars and run for the hills when a cupcake* is shoved in their face?
Hey, I happen to like socks and sandals!
Well that all depends on if your body can handle this grain endosperm “dance”. (I have yet to see that number on Dancing With The Stars).
Television personality, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and actress Emmy Rossum actually have a complication called Celiac Disease, “a condition that damages the lining of their small intestines and prevents them from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction from eating gluten…”
Are your intestines ready for a renovation?
Or in other words, gluten is the equivalent of a UFC champion and these celeb’s intestines are… cute little white bunnies.
I EAT BUNNIES FOR BREAKFAST… MWAHH HA HA HA!
Not everyone seems has a problem with gluten though.
How do you feel about an older woman?
Eliminating it from your diet really is a trial and error test.
If you get rid of it and feel better, then perhaps it’s best to ditch it in its entirety. But if you really feel no different, then you don’t need to scour food labels for hours on end to make sure the tiniest bit of gluten isn’t lurking in your salad dressings, canned goods, seasonings, lunch meats, cereals, meat replacements, tomato sauces….. Yeah, gluten is a food slut.
Not as innocent as you might think!
If you can handle wearing socks and sandals (or eating gluten) then rock em, but if you start to feel awkward (or in other words, experience any of the symptoms described above), you may want to find yourself a new pair of shoes.
*Cupcakes should be kept to a minimum for they’re filled with sugar, processed carbohydrates, trans fatty acids and other unhealthy ingredients.
