Going “Veggie” Doesn’t Automatically Mean Healthier

Summer’s number one food staple is (in my opinion)…

BIG JUICY BURGERS… Smothered with melted cheese, topped with crispy bacon, crunchy lettuce, creamy avocado and a nice firm slice of tomato, then squirted with ketchup and all nestled between two moist yet resistant toasted sesame seed buns.

However, lately, things have gotten a bit out of hand in the burger world because restaurants seem to be trying WAY TOO HARD to get attention… #DoItForTheGram?

Were you thinking BURGERS too when thinking about the number one summer food staple?

Now as fall approaches (FORK YES! Bring on the PUMPKIN SPICE… Condoms and toilet paper!)… We will all start to notice burgers being less apparent as the display cases at grocery stores adjust to reflect the weather changing outside and the fact that BBQs will begin their hibernation period.

Helloooooooo turkeys and pumpkins!

That being said… For vegetarians and vegans… “Burgers” have the same prominence in their lives whether it’s summer, fall, winter or spring as these patties are one of the main sources of protein in their anti-animal protein diets.

Yep. Those who shun the meat will still have to walk over to the same ol’ freezer section (I don’t think I have ever seen a grocery store display meat-less burgers during the summer months, have you?) that’s dedicated to their boxed up burgers varieties.

I have to admit that… Vegan and vegetarian burgers have ALWAYS scared me. ALWAYS. I have never consumed one in my entire life, and I actually cannot consume them thanks to my limited diet… Not that I would ever want to, considering I am as scared of them as I am… Sharks.

Just like I avoid the beach, ocean, and pools, (you never know when a shark might sneak through the pool filter?), I avoid that creepy freezer section and skirt away frantically if I ever do come even remotely close to it.

However, I recently faced my fears for the SAKE OF ALL OF YOU… And SHOCKINGLY ENOUGHI have lived to make you a YouTube video discussing my findings!

Now I am not sure if you remember… (Or maybe you’re new to the blog) but I started a new spin-off GiGi Eats Celebrities series called CALLING OUT THE FAKERS… Where I debunk health food fakers and this episode is all about… VEGGIE BURGERS and why they may not be as healthy as some people think!

I’m pretty confident that a lot of the vegans and vegetarians reading this just got insanely defensive about their believed patties and are headed to the comment section to give me a piece of their minds.

But before letting your anger get as hot as the hottest day you experienced this summer… Do yourself a favor and watch the video. I promise you, it will cool you down and prep you for our upcoming season (and give you some veggie burger alternatives)!

Plus, I risked my life for you. So clearly, I go out of my way to want to feed you useful knowledge! Ha Ha!

PS: Meat Lovers… I recommend you watch this video too. Take a bite!

SO TELL ME…

  • Did you know all of this about the majority of veggie burgers on the market?
  • Are you a vegetarian/vegan? And if so, what foods are your main sources of protein?
  • Were you one to think that veggie burgers were always 100% healthier than animal protein burgers?
  • Fall or Summer? Which season do you like better?
  • When you think of summer food, what comes to mind first?
  • What are you going to miss most about summer?
  • Are there any “healthy” foods you’d like me to “debunk”?
